Plan Development
Prior to starting the Innovative Technology Demonstration project, the Jet Filter System, LS Engineering and the Michigan DOT developed an installation plan that included installation of 52 units with various configurations and 5 different geotextile filter fabrics.
Pre-installation Inspection
Inspection confirmed most existing 3” weep holes from 1963 had been plugged due to soil leaching, although prior evidence of flow was apparent from significant surface erosion of the concrete below the weep holes. Vertical cracks and construction joints leaching water or were damp approximately ½ way up the sidewalls from the culvert bottom indicating water retention behind the culvert sidewalls.
